Currently under construction, the Gordon will be a three and four story structure with a single subterranean parking level. The Gordon will be LEED Gold Certified, and will feature multiple eco-friendly components including the use of drought tolerant plants and a high efficiency irrigation system for landscaping. All of the units will feature formaldehyde free kitchen cabinets, hardwood flooring, Energy Star kitchen appliances, low flow toilets and sinks as well as high efficiency low-E vinyl windows. The Gordon is designed as a U-shaped courtyard building which opens to the south to maximize natural daylight into the center of the building. To reinforce the connection of the building to the street, the community room and lobby entry are prominently placed at the ground level of the Gordon Street façade. By using large areas of glazed glass at the community room and entry lobby, transparency and connection between interior activity and the community is emphasized. A sunny courtyard will feature lush landscaping, a BBQ area, children’s play area and sitting areas for the residents to congregate. The Gordon also features a community laundry facility with roof top sitting area. The building’s exterior design is a modern take on craftsman architecture, featuring sloping roof elements, stepped massing and a variety of materials giving the building façade a rich texture. The main façade materials will be smooth painted stucco, cement board siding and wood accents in the balcony railings and roof eves. The units have been generously designed to meet all size requirements and amenity features, with units ranging in size from: 603 square foot one bedrooms up to three-bedroom units containing 1,140 square feet. All units feature private balcony space off the living room which provides another type of common space for relaxing and living. The bedrooms are generously sized with ample closet space and natural light. The 2-bedroom units feature an extra half-bath for function and convenience while the 3-bedroom units feature two full baths. Construction will be completed by year end 2013.
